Chevelle Jasintha Franklyn is a Jamaican reggae and gospel reggae singer, born on March 4, 1974. She began her career in dancehall music before transitioning to gospel music in the late 1990s. Early in her career, she had hits such as “Dancehall Queen” with Beenie Man and “Mr. Loverman” with Shabba Ranks. She has worked with various record labels over the course of her career, including Steely & Clevie Records and Greensleeves Records.
Since her shift to gospel music, Chevelle Franklyn has continued to tour internationally and release albums. A notable spotlight of her career includes performing at “The Experience” in Lagos, Nigeria, which is a major gospel music event. She has also won multiple Caribbean Gospel Reggae Marlin Awards and was featured on Israel Houghton’s Grammy-winning album The Power of One.
