Israel Mbonyi, whose full name is Israel Mbonyicyambu, is a Rwandan gospel artist. Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo on 20 May, 1992, he was raised in Rwanda and is fluent in Kinyarwanda, English, and Swahili. He is recognized for his soulful voice and for his unique ability to create worship music that resonates with a broad audience, making him one of the most celebrated gospel artists in East Africa.
Israel Mbonyi is the founder of his own record label, 12 Stones Records. His discography includes several successful albums, such as Number One (2014) and Umusirikare (2023). He is a prolific songwriter and has received numerous awards and nominations for his work, including a nomination at the 2025 Trace Awards.
