Mercy Nnenda Chinwo, known professionally as Mercy Chinwo, is a highly acclaimed Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, and actress. Born on September 5, 1990, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, she gained national recognition after winning the second season of Nigerian Idol in 2012. Her powerful vocals and heartfelt worship music quickly established her as a prominent figure in the African gospel music scene. Her debut single “Testimony” was released in 2015, followed by “Igwe” in 2016, and she signed with EeZee Conceptz in 2017.
Chinwo’s career soared with the release of her mega-hit song “Excess Love” in 2018, which garnered international acclaim and became an anthem in churches worldwide. She followed this success with albums like “The Cross: My Gaze” (2018), “Satisfied” (2020), and “Overwhelming Victory” (2024).
