Artist Overview

The New Respects is a high-energy American indie-rock and soul quartet based in Nashville, Tennessee. Comprising siblings Zandy Mowry (guitar), Lexi Hill (bass), and Darius Fitzgerald (drums), along with their cousin Jasmine Mullen (lead vocals/guitar), the group is a true family affair. Notably, Jasmine Mullen is the daughter of legendary gospel artist Nicole C. Mullen, and the band’s roots are deeply embedded in the Nashville music community, where they first formed in high school as the John Hancock Band before evolving into their current soulful, retro-rock sound.

The band’s career is defined by a “genre-bending” style that seamlessly blends 1960s rock and roll, funk, and modern pop, often drawing comparisons to artists like the Alabama Shakes and Aretha Franklin. They gained significant national attention with their 2017 debut EP, Here Comes Trouble, and their 2018 full-length album, Before The Sun Goes Down. Known for their electrifying live performances, they have toured extensively with major acts like NEEDTOBREATHE, O.A.R., and Matt Nathanson, while their music has been featured in high-profile sync placements, including Netflix’s To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You.

In 2026, The New Respects continue to be a vibrant force in the indie-soul scene, maintaining a steady output of independent releases. Following a string of successful 2024 singles such as “Candy” and “YBA,” they have remained active on the touring circuit, bringing their signature positive energy to festivals and headline shows. Their ability to balance their Christian heritage with a mainstream rock appeal has allowed them to reach a diverse global audience, solidifying their reputation as one of Nashville’s most exciting and consistent musical exports.
